I read on Wikipedia that Tama was responsible for bringing over a billion yen to the local economy from tourists. Well done little Tama! Hope she's watching the trains in heaven!
@@gack2 I just searched it and I wasn't seeing any reports of Nitama's death, but she does have a subordinate who works on her days off named Yontama - Edit: typo
For the 1st time, I've fallen in love with Japan. Lovely quirky laid back feeling with a nod to the past and a love of cats. Japan always seems crazy rushed every day so visit, yes, but never stay to enjoy a slow day. How very nice.
If I recall the story correctly, there is a Santama, who's called Sun-tama-tama now. She was considered as a successor for Tama, but the person caring for her in Okayama didn't want to give her up, but she does serve as stationmaster at an Okayama station.
It felt good to watch a themed train, along with a themed station. Very imaginative of the Japanese to conceptualise this. Kudos to the entire team who executed this and thanks for uploading this catty video!
Thank you for posting this. It is the main reason me and my wife plan to visit Japan. We come from Bakersfield, CA where we have our own famous cat, Tara. We have a more... American famous cat as Tara was caught on video defending her young human from a rogue dog. We also had a kind calico and want to bring respect an honour to Tama from Tara and Chas. This video just inspired us more, and we hope to go to Kishi and the greater Wakayama - Osaka area soon.
Thank you for sharing your story! Tara sounds amazing, and it's wonderful to hear you're inspired to visit Kishi and the Osaka area. Tama's legacy lives on through fans like you!
I LOVE this, thank you so much for sharing! It makes my heart happy knowing all this exists. Oh, I think DMR is "dog, mouse, rabbit" based on the shapes. :)
I was there a couple of weeks ago too. Instead of going back from the same station, we took a walk in the neighborhood, around a small pond to the previous station and took the train back from there. I wish I had more time to explore there it was amazing
Tama was very photogenic! These trains have beautiful scenery out the windows, books, and cats everywhere. Recipes for contentment. Thank you for taking us on another interesting journey! Best wishes for health and happiness until next time from New Hampshire!
Hello from Singapore i think it’s so cool that japan had these kinds of things and that is even cooler that you film it so we can also experience it this channel is very underrated

Thank you for taking us along with you on this Adorable Adventure.
That train is so cute. It's so interesting that Japan has so many themed trains. You must have a lot of railroad tracks there. You asked about the D M and R on the seats. I think they were the first letter of the animal depicted: Dog, Mouse and Rabbit,.
Yes, Japan has a lot of themed trains, it's part of the charm! And yes, Japan has an extensive railway network. Have you been on any other themed trains?
@@experience_japan No. We don't have them in the USA. We also don't have so many railroad tracks. I don't think the American people would like it. They already complain about having to wait for trains to pass by on the tracks we already have. The closest I've been in a themed train is the monorail at Disneyland.
Question: Do the cats have a side room to go into once they're tired of being in the window? And, thank you so much for the videos! I enjoy how relaxing they are! I'm hoping to travel to Japan some day!
I love it! Every detail is so nice and magical. It feels like antidepressant train and station. I would want to buy so many things... Does the kitty have to be on display all the time? She is so beautiful I hope she is okay and happy. The train musseum is so nice and the Tama train too. What are there on the library? Are there all books about cats? I love cats so much.
I'm glad you love it! It does have a magical atmosphere. As for the kitty, she's well cared for and loved. The library has a variety of books; some are about cats, but there's a wide selection. Do you have a favorite cat breed?
If you like Japanese cat trains there’s also a cat themed train that runs on the line to Gotokuji temple in Tokyo which is the home of the famous maneki-neko lucky cat statues. So cute! I hope the kitty can walk freely and doesn't have to sit behind the glass all day.
Indeed, it would be nice if the kitty could roam freely. From what I've heard, she enjoys her interactions with visitors!

D, M, R means Dog, Mouse, and Rabbit! The "D" chair has dog ears, the "M" mouse ears and the "R" rabbit ears.
Thank you for clarifying! That's really cute and clever design for the chairs.
